The village of Pennan featured in the film Local Hero in which it was known by the fictional name of Furness. Those that have seen the movie will know that the telephone box in the village plays a key role. Unbeknown to many, though, this phone box was just a film prop. There is a phone box in the village, though, just across from the Pennan Inn. Fans of the film flock to see it, but how many realise that it’s not the one used in Local Hero?
