Originally part of a dairy farm in 1933, the Byre Theatre was founded by Alexander Paterson, a playwright and journalist. Located near the centre of town, the Byre is now a modern theatre in St Andrews, and aims to be lively, exciting, and creative. Various plays from Scotland and the rest of the UK are regularly shown. The theatre features a large café and bar, and can also arrange educational events in the field of performing arts.
