Cadzow Castle was built between 1500 and 1550, known by many as the 'castle in the woods', for Hamilton. Sir James Hamilton of Finnart was the architect of the building that overlooks a famous old hunting ground, just a small amount of which is left. At present only the exterior of the castle can be enjoyed; it is a structure which is under constant development and refurbishment by Historic Scotland.
