To the south of Drummond Castle lies one of Scotland’s finest formal gardens, laid out in Italian Renaissance style from 1828-1838 by Charles Barry. It is open to the public in the summer months for a modest entrance fee. The gardens contain lots of interest - as well as the plants and flowers, there are fountains, terracing, urns and statues. A dominant feature of the gardens is a St Andrew’s Cross with a 17th Century sundial at its centre. Both the buildings and gardens of the castle featured as backdrops in the 1995 film, Rob Roy.
