The spectacular cathedral ruins are situated near the harbour of St. Andrews. Dating from around 1160, the ruins are a sight all visitors must see. Destroyed by a mob during the Reformation, the remaining ruins only give a small insight as to how large this building must have been. Once a place of pilgrimage for thousands of people in Medieval times, the Cathedral was the centrepiece of the holy capital of Scotland, and one of the most important religious places in Europe.
