Tentsmuir Point National Nature Reserve takes its name from Tents Muir; it was open moorland in recent times before the Forestry Commission planted up Scots and Corsican pine. Today these mature pine stands form a fine backdrop to the three miles of golden beach and rolling sand dunes that face the North Sea. Tentsmuir point attracts more than 2,000 common and grey seals which come to moult, breed and rest. Access is from Tayport or Kinshaldy Car Park by Leuchars; the National Cycle Network runs parallel to the beach.
