Barmouth Railway Bridge stretches for over half a mile across the mouth of the beautiful River Mawddach, and a walk along its footpath beside the railway line is an unforgettable experience with magnificent inland views. The viaduct was built in 1867 to bring Victorian visitors to seaside resorts on the Cambrian coast. It has a swing bridge section built to allow the passage of ships up the river. There is a small toll in the summer months for access to the bridge.
