Capel-y-ffin (St.Mary’s Church) lies in the middle of the remote Vale of Ewyas about 10 miles south of Hay-on-Wye and about three miles north of the great priory of Llanthony in the Black Mountains. It is a chapel-of-ease to llanigan and one of the smallest churches in the country. It was built in 1762 as a replacement for an earlier building, the porch being added in 1817. It boasts an octagonal pulpit, mediaeval font and a crooked belfry with two bells.
