Coed Ganllwyd is a nature reserve known for its ferns, mosses and liverworts. A short walk through the reserve leads to a spectacular waterfall called Rhaeadr Ddu on the River Gamlan. At one viewpoint of the falls is a tablet with an inscription by the poet Thomas Gray. The ancient woodlands consist mainly of sessile oak, with some birch and ash. Dipper may be seen in the river and in the woodlands are jay, nuthatch and pied flyctcher. There is a car park nearby in Ganllwyd village.
