Llyn Tegid is the largest natural lake in Wales. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and attracts many different kinds of birds. The unique Gwyniad, a fish left over from the Ice Age, is found only in Llyn Tegid. There are 13 other species of fish; anglers require a rod licence and permit. The lake is popular for water sports (permits required) and rowing boats can be hired during the summer months. There is a large car park, changing facilities and picnic area at the Bala end of the lake.
