Pendinas is a prominent hill near the coast on the south side of the River Rheidol at Aberystwyth. Crowning the 415 foot high summit is a cannon barrel shaped monument erected in the 1850s to commemorate the Duke of Wellington`s victory at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. An Iron Age hillfort covering several acres also occupies the top of the hill. Footpaths to the summit start on the A487 and a lane beside the River Ystwyth.
