The museum is devoted to Robert Owen (1771 - 1858), model employer, early socialist and inspirer of the co-operative movement. The museum is intriguingly laid out with many pictures on display. Unusual items include a ‘Silent Monitor’ from New Lanark, a life mask of Robert Owen and Labour Notes in hours. Robert Owen’s story is told clearly on text panels in large type. Our 23 minute Robert Owen video film can be viewed in the museum.
