St Mary`s Church dates from 1716. Its magnificent roof is supported by unusual wooden pillars that were dragged over the pass of Bwlch Oerddrws from the forests of Dinas Mawddwy. There is some 18th Century stained glass. One of the main features of interest is the stone effigy of the 14th Century knight Meuric ap Ynyr Fychan of Nannau, a nearby estate. In the churchyard is a monument to Welsh poet, Dafydd Ionawr. The church is in the town centre, close to Eldon Square.
