Passengers can enjoy magnificent views from the carriages of the Vale of Rheidol Railway as it rises 600 feet on its twelve mile journey from Aberystwyth to Devil`s Bridge. The narrow gauge railway opened in 1902 to carry ore from the lead mines in Cwm Rheidol to the coast. At Devil`s Bridge there is a cafe and a picnic area, and a short walk leads to the entrance gates for the Mynach Falls and the Devil`s Punchbowl. A longer walk can be taken through the woodlands to Cwm Rheidol.
