A castle has existed in some form on Cornet rock at the entrance to St Peter Port since the thirteenth Century. The fortress is now accessible via a breakwater and bridge built in the nineteenth Century. The castle walls house several museums including a maritime museum, the Royal Guernsey Militia Museum and the 201 Squadron RAF Museum. The Story of Castle Cornet exhibition takes visitors through the castle’s complex history and the well tended period gardens offer spectacular views of the harbour and beyond.
