Francis Ferdinand Maurice Cook was born in 1907 and grew up in Richmond surrounded by the Cook Collection of Master paintings. Fascinated by the works of the like of Rubens and Van Dyke, Cook immediately began to try his own hand at art. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the finest painters of his generation, and his wife donated a series of over 1200 works to Jersey Heritage Trust after his death, forming the basis of this collection.
