Ambleside is a bustling Cumbrian town situated in the heart of the Lake District and is popular with tourists for good places to eat and shops to browse. It has an array of places to stay and easy access to the surrounding hills. Stock Ghyll Force waterfall is a short walk from the town and is a picturesque setting. In the centre of Ambleside, Bridge House sits astride the stream and is now owned by the National Trust.

  Latest Ambleside Review

The Lake District makes a fantastic tourist destination come rain or shine. My favourite place is Ambleside situated by the lake and surrounded by beautiful mountains. It is only an hour from the Scottish Border and easy to reach by road from the M6 motorway. We browse the unique shops and spend hours in the galleries and museums. I never tire of learning about the history of Ambleside and my favourite historic attraction is Wordsworth House.   - PeterGrant
