Built in the late 14th Century, Arnside Tower is the oldest building in the area. After centuries of erosion and subjugation to a brutal storm in 1884 this pele tower no longer has a roof or any floors and is probably too dangerous for people to enter, there is however a path very close by. Used as an outpost to defend the nearby villages from raiding Scots this now ruinous building provides us with some perspective on the UK’s past and is definitely worth a look.
