Latest Barrow-in-Furness Review

I chose to stay in Barrow because it offered the best place to start an exploration of the surrounding countryside. Admittedly it meant driving all the way to the southern tip of Cumbria, but it was worth the extra effort. The town is the largest in Cumbria and is dominated by the shipbuilding yard, but put that to one side and really have a good look at the Dock Museum and the wonderful shops, restaurants and bars. Barrow has a lot to offer visitors.

I find the architecture in Barrow-in-Furness really amazing. The real sandstone of the Town Hall is really impressive and the clock tower can be seen for miles around. There are lots of churches in the town as well as some impressive monuments. If you visit Barrow-in-Furness I strongly recommend that you visit Walney Island that is reached by bridge from Barrow Docks. We spend hour’s bird watching there and the most common birds are Herring Gulls and Lesser Black Backed Gulls.
