Brough is a small town nestling in the Eden Valley in the East of Cumbria. It has two distinct parts to it. The Southern part, called Church Brough, is where the castle can be found which sits on the original site of a Roman camp and dates from around 1100. The Northern end of the village, called Market Brough, is situated on a Mediaeval road. The village was once a coaching town for the route between England and Scotland and hence had many inns.
