Esk Pike is an attractive, crag-ridden mountain, dominating the upper reaches of the valley of the River Esk, whose sparkling cataracts and pools offer many opportunities for cooling off after a hot day on the fells. Esk Pike is popularly climbed from the walker’s crossroads of Esk Hause to the north and, if you are a strong walker, it can be coupled with an ascent of the other surrounding peaks: Great End, Allen Crags, Bow Fell and, of course, the Scafells — of which Esk Pike offers some of the best views.
