Kendal is my favourite town in Cumbria. It has a welcoming feel about it and ticks over nicely all year round, unlike some other parts of the county which are more seasonal. There are plenty of things to see and do. The Brewery, in particular, is a great venue and attracts some big names from time to time. Take a moment to walk up to Kendal Castle if you get chance, or - unknown to many - if you like skiing, there's even a dry ski slope on the side of the hill on which the castle is situated. Kendal also has a good choice of restaurants, including my personal favourite which is the New Moon Restaurant just across from The Brewery.
