This attractive Wesleyan Church (dated 1904) is located in the area of Appleby known as The Sands, just across the River Eden from the town centre. The Sands grew rapidly with the arrival of the Eden Valley Railway in 1862 and the famous Carlisle-Settle line in 1876. It attracts many visitors each year for the famous Appleby horse fair, as it offers a good vantage point from which to view the annual ‘horse washing’ in the Eden just opposite the Methodist Church.
