This impressive 15th Century tower is the main remains of Shap Abbey that has been an important religious and cultural landmark in the community for centuries. Located in a remote spot in the Cumbria countryside, a visit affords wonderful views of the rolling hills that surround. The abbey is owned and operated by English Heritage and there are a series of panels and signs that tell you more about the history of the site and guide you around.
