Skelwith Force is a less-often visited waterfall on the River Brathay near to Ambleside. Though the waterfall is only about 15 feet high, it is an impressive cascade, especially after heavy rainfall when the roar of the water drowns out any passing traffic from the nearby road. There is a good spot just beyond a metal bridge from which to take photographs. The waterfall is easily reached along a good footpath runs from Skelwith Bridge and can be combined with other outings in the area.
