This truly ancient place of worship is the oldest recorded Church in Westmorland, dating all the way back to the 7th Century. It is thought that the church used to be an Anglican monastery that became a church later in its life. The majority of the old Church was unfortunately destroyed in a devastating fire in 1601, so the building itself is from after this time. After rebuilding, the church was again restored by Paley and Austin in the 19th century. There is much more history to this place than meets the eye and visitors will find it fascinating.
