Brockhole is an Edwardian house beautifully situated on the shores of Windermere; enjoy extensive landscaped gardens, lake cruises, adventure playground, guided walks and activities. There are two floors of exciting interactive exhibitions; introducing the National Park, the story of how the National Park evolved; the people who have shaped the landscape and the special qualities which make the Lake District landscape such an important part of our national heritage. There is also a gift shop, information centre, film theatre and café with terrace seating.

Brockhole is a favourite place for me to take my young family. It is a great day out with lots of open space for the children to run around. The adventure playground is brilliant for all ages with a zip wire and wooden fort.
The younger ones may need a little watching as there are some pieces of equipment which have drops. There is a nature walk by the lake with good views over Lake Windermere and at certain times of the year you can hire kayaks here too.
The tea shop is clean and on a nice day is a great place to sit on the patio outside. Also there is a gift shop to browse and a small indoor resource centre with some information about the surrounding environment and the ability for the kids to have a go at some hands on activities. There is ample parking but make sure that you have plenty of change.
We often take a picnic and make a day of it as there are plenty of picnic benches throughout the grounds. Although there are some indoor things it is better to go on a nice day in order to fully appreciate the grounds.
