Anna Sewell, author of Black Beauty, was born in this pretty cottage on March 30, 1820. The novel is still one of the best selling works in the English language and one of the most read children’s books in the world. The author died in 1878, just six months after Black Beauty was published. Sewell House is one of the few buildings in Great Yarmouth with timber framing. It dates from 1641.
