Barton is one of many significant villages that lie around the university town of Cambridge. Since ancient times the area has been wealthy and affluent due to its rich soils and influential trading position. Barton Green was traditionally a place of trading on routes in and out of Cambridge. Throughout the centuries the village grew around this busy place and today it is used as a recreation area, to relax and watch the world go by.
