Beccles Marsh Trail is a series of walks through Beccles’ ancient marshes. Queen Elizabeth I gave the area to the town in 1584, following a 40-years dispute between the Marsh commoners and the Rede family. Today, this beautiful area, a haven for wildlife, has been recognized as an integral part of the Norfolk Broads. Birds include wildfowl, coots, moorhens, swans, lapwings, kestrels, buzzards and owls and plants include marigolds, mallows and purple loosestrife.
