Set in the scenic surroundings of the Lincolnshire Wolds, Bolingbroke Castle is an impressive Thirteenth Century stone fortress and it was here that a King of England, Henry IV, was born. Visitors to the castle can see the remains of many features such as the octagonal tower and towered gatehouse, and can take a stroll around the rout yard and earthworks. The castle was largely destroyed in the Civil War, and villagers stole much of the stone to build their property, which can be seen the village that the castle dominates.
