The southern Lincolnshire market town of Bourne rests on the edge of the Fens and was originally constructed on the pathway of a Roman road. Its name was derived from the Anglo-Saxon word for ‘water’ thanks to its supply of natural spring water. Major heritage sights in the town include the Abbey and Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul and Red Hall, both listed buildings.
