This local nature reserve was opened in 1997 and covers a stretch of the Chiltern hills running above the Upper Icknield Way, and crossed by the Ridgeway, national trails. The reserve includes ancient beech woodland and chalk downland providing a rich variety of habitats supporting a substantial diversity of plant and animal species. On a clear day, the highest parts of the reserve also offer stunning views across to the Cotswolds and towards the Berkshire Downs. A convenient car park is situated at the top of Peters Lane.
