Bungay Watermill was originally constructed of weatherboard and brick, having a simple corrugated iron roof. This last working version was rebuilt in around 1902 after a large fire destroyed the previous mill on 25th February. According to records, when the previous mill was sold in 1784 it had 3 sets of French burr stones but by 1788 this number had reduced to 2 sets. It has a lucam that projects right across the road and over the tailrace from where wherries could once be loaded or unloaded.
