A small town in Hertfordshire’s Hertsmere borough, Bushey was allegedly once the hunting ground of Dick Turpin and other highwaymen, having been on the busy Bushey Heath to Stanmore road where caravans from London passed through. Bavarian artist Hubert von Herkomer established an art school here in the late 1800s, and many of his works can be seen today at the Bushey Museum.
