Chenies Manor was originally known as ‘Chenies Palace’, the manorial rights of which were granted to the Cheyne family in 1180. In approximately 1460, Sir John Cheyne built the semi-fortified Grade I listed building that so many visitors enjoy today. This beautiful manor has an enchanting story, including regal visits (Queen Elizabeth I and Henry VIII enjoyed many stays), changes in ownership and many a ghostly tale! Architecturally, the manor boasts many unique and distinctive features, such as its 23 individual chimneys. Visitors will also enjoy the mature gardens with its yew maze, and the 15th Century church.
