This site represents the only remaining part of a priory in England that was used by the Canons of the Holy Sepulchre, an order who aided pilgrims in getting to Christ’s tomb. The 14th Century church fell into disrepair and was for a long time used as a barn. English Heritage have taken ownership of the site and have invested in restoring much of the church, where visitors are treated to some delightful examples of local architectural techniques.
