The College of Corpus Christi and the Blessed Virgin Mary is distinctive as it was the only of the Cambridge Colleges to have been founded by the townspeople of Cambridge. Established in 1352 the College is the second smallest after Peterhouse. The college is rich in silver, but its greatest treasure is the Parker Library, the greatest collection of medieval manuscripts in the country. Perhaps the most famous son of the college is Christopher Marlowe who left the college in 1580.
