Surrounded by Epping Forest, the market town of Epping primarily draws visitors with its listed buildings, farmland and weekly market. The town was famous for producing butter in the 18th and 19th Centuries and although no longer produced, Epping sausages are. This Essex commuter town, much of which is a conservation area, is dominated by an old Gothic water tower.

For example you can explore the area’s aviation history at North Weald Airfield or discover Gunpowder at Waltham Abbey and thrill seekers like my two sons there’s the amazing Lee Valley White Water Centre.   - Leah McAlloy
