Situated in Old Felixstowe, the Ferry is an attractive hamlet at the mouth of the Deben estuary. It is worth the short drive or coastal walk from Felixstowe to visit this area, which boasts two good pubs, the Ferry Café (known for its substantial and reasonably priced breakfasts), a sailing club, seafood shop, golf course and two Martello Towers. Locals also visit the Ferry to ‘go crabbing’. From here, you can take the passenger ferry across to Bawdsey, famous in WW2 for its research station, where radar was developed.
