The North Sea port of Felixstowe on the Suffolk coast is one of Britain’s largest container ports. Situated at the estuary of the rivers Orwell and Stour, the town is a popular seaside resort. Visitor attractions include the 18th Century Landguard Fort but sadly the town pier was irreparably damaged during WWII to deter it being used as an enemy landing point.

  Latest Felixstowe Review

When you think of Felixstowe you, like me, probably immediately think of a massive container port, but there is another side to the town. The seaside resort that boasts spa gardens, a charming Victorian promenade and the Spa Pavilion Theatre and leisure centre. There's loads for kids of all ages to do with nature trails and seaside arcades as well as watching the huge ships glide past.   - Paul Martin

Although famous for being a busy seaport, Felixstowe has quite a large promenade with plenty of amusement arcades, the oldest and possibly nicest looking of which is Manning’s Amusement Park.

The promenade is far enough away from the container port so that you never really notice the latter, apart from seeing the ships entering and leaving into the North Sea on the horizon which can be quite entertaining for the kids.

There are a mixture of sandy and shingle beaches around Felixstowe so plenty of room for the sandcastles, and from what I saw the beach looked perfectly clean.

A good all round seaside resort with generally quite dry weather during the Summer.
