The Fishermen's Hospital isn’t a hospital but a quadrangle of 20 almshouses built in 1702 for, according to a plaque, "decaying fishermen". The almshouses were funded by the Corporation of Great Yarmouth and the plaque also lays out its rules and regulations for residents. It makes fascinating reading. The picturesque almshouses themselves were restored in 1985-6 by the architects, Wearing, Hastings and Brooks.
