Fulbourn Windmill was built in 1808 by John Chaplin and is a smock windmill. The structure overlooks the village of Fulbourn about four miles to the east of Cambridge. The mill stayed in the Chaplin family for over a hundred years before being sold to a Mr. Mapey and used as working mill until 1937. It was then left and hit several times by lightning, decaying for decades before being restored to its former glory on the hillside.
