Letchworth Garden City was a new concept in design when it was built in the 1940s. The idea of the garden city project was to provide green and self contained environments in which the many people displaced by the Second World War could be re-housed and start a new life away from the cities. The project went on to become the new towns system. This museum shows the way that this developed.
