It is not known exactly when the first settlers moved to Hadstock on the beautiful borderland between Cambridgeshire and Essex. It is known that the Icknield Way, a major Roman road ran past the green and made the village an important stopping point for travellers and traders. Traditionally they would have met at the village green to sell and trade their goods and rest. The green is today a place of peace and tranquillity used by locals and visitors alike for relaxing and watching the world go by.
