Originally founded in 1879 for a match against neighbouring town Saffron Walden, Harlow Town Football Club is most famous for its giant-killing televised run in the 1979-80 FA Cup. Having already defeated Leicester City at home, the club only went down away in the Fourth Round to future England manager Graham Taylor’s Watford in a thrilling 4-3 classic. The club has never emerged from the Isthmian Leagues, but continues to be a well-supported non-league outfit, whose bar and social club is popular as a venue for a variety of social functions.
