Situated on the edge of fields covering many acres from Old Road to Marsh Lane, Harlowbury Chapel is the oldest intact building in Harlow and one of the oldest in Essex. The Grade I listed building is usually dated from the 12th Century and has several original features from this time. Once the chapel of Harlowbury Manor it was allowed to fall into disrepair until a modest £1000 grant allowed the Friends of Harlowbury Chapel to begin to restore it. It is easily accessed by a public footpath from Old Road, Old Harlow, and while it has no regular opening hours, is sometimes the venue for local choral and classical music concerts.
