One of sculptor Henry Moore’s most famous works, this weathered stone statue, a gift to the town, and for many years unprotected from the weather and the public, was removed by the Henry Moore Foundation to its headquarters in Perry Green following an act of public vandalism in the eighties. Despite its eight-figure insurance valuation, it has now been returned and is situated in the Civic Centre in Central Harlow where it is once again on display at all hours of day and night, separated from the public when the centre is closed by only a pane of glass. The subject of a Radio 4 documentary, any visitor should surely pause to look at this, one of the most valuable sculptures in the world.
