Haslingfield, like many of the villages surrounding Cambridge has always been an important settlement and has enjoyed wealth and fame because of its position on one of the main roads in and out of the university city. The Village Green would always have been the traditional place of meeting for traders and locals to do financial deals on their way in and out of Cambridge. The green has been the site of a thousand years of recreation and entertainment in the village and still today attracts locals.
