The current drainage windpump on this site was built in 1921, replacing the old mill that was in a precarious condition. The purpose of the windpump was to pump water from the dykes around the Broads to the North Sea. The five storey windpump offers wonderful views across Horsey Mere and there are many walks in the area offering visitors a chance to spot the variety of birdlife in the area. Refreshments are available in a kiosk by the pump.
